About Our Chippendale Dining Chairs

Thomas Chippendale published his *Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Director* in 1754, and the designs he set down have never really gone out of fashion. Our Chippendale dining chairs draw directly from those original plates and from the finest surviving examples in English and American collections.

You'll find the hallmarks that define the style, interlacing ribbon backs, pierced gothic splats, ball-and-claw feet, and the graceful cabriole legs that required extraordinary skill from the carver's hand. Each chair is built from solid mahogany with traditional mortise-and-tenon construction, ensuring the kind of structural soundness that allows these chairs to be used daily for generations.

Our range includes both side chairs and armchairs, with options for drop-in seats in muslin (ready for your upholsterer) or finished in leather or fabric. Several designs feature chinoiserie influences, cockpen fretwork and pagoda crests, reflecting Chippendale's well-documented fascination with Eastern aesthetics.

These are chairs for people who understand that great design endures. Browse the collection and find the pattern that speaks to your dining room.
