About Our Art Deco Furniture

Art Deco furniture arrived in the early 1920s as a deliberate break from the organic curves of Art Nouveau and the historical revivalism that had dominated the previous century. The style prioritized geometry over ornament, exotic materials over period-correct references, and modernity over tradition. In doing so, it produced some of the most visually powerful furniture forms of the 20th century.

The defining characteristics of Art Deco furniture are still immediately recognizable: bold stepped and tiered silhouettes, sunburst and fan motifs, lacquered surfaces in black or high-gloss colors, chrome and brass hardware, and exotic wood veneers including zebrano, macassar ebony, and amboyna. Upholstery runs toward deep jewel tones and geometric patterns.

EGA Home carries Art Deco pieces that honor the original design vocabulary without the fragility of antique construction. Frames are solid hardwood; veneers and lacquer finishes are applied over stable substrates. Most pieces are available in custom sizes.

Art Deco works particularly well in rooms that need a strong focal point without the softness of traditional period styles. A lacquered console or bar cabinet reads immediately as a considered design choice, not a default. The geometric hardware and stepped profiles look at home against both traditional architecture and contemporary interiors.

White glove in-home delivery is standard on every order.
